I want to add something about accomodations in Rwanda. I stayed in different hotels in Kigali, Gitarama/Kabgayi, and Ruhengeri and can say that I believe the Iris GuestHouse in Kigali is the best hotel for the money in Rwanda. The beds are comfortable. There was always hot water with excellent water pressure. (Of course, sometimes that meant water all over the floor of the bathroom while the shower curtains were being replaced.) The breakfast of breads, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, juice, coffee and tea is included as well. The staff at reception and the restaurant are very nice and extremely helpful. When I left for extended periods, they were happy to keep my bags for a few days without charge. The restaruant has a varied menu that is reliably well-prepared. The veranda outside the restaurant is an excellent place to have a meal, read a book, check your email, or meet fellow travelers.
