Marie-Noëlle, the owner manager of Inzu Lodge, which was only operating as a campsite and restaurant when the 5th edition was researched, but now also offers accommodation, has sent me the following progress update:
Located 7 km from Gisenyi, in front of Lake Kivu, Inzu Lodge now has 4 safari tents in which you can sleep. Each tent is furnished with a comfortable bed, chairs, and a night table. One tent can accommodate two to three people. This costs Rfr 20,000 dbl.
Inzu Lodge also offers campers the possibility of sleeping under your own tent. Bring your equipment and take advantage of our magnificent vew on the Lake Kivu. This costs Rfr 10,000 per party for up to three people.
Bookings can be made online and paypal is accepted.
Inzu Lodge has a restaurant. The menu has a variety of options featuring local cuisine (for example: sambasa) and its own original dishes that are cooked in banana leaves and Western fare. There is also fresh juice, homemade sorbet and homemade desserts. We grow our own vegetables which are served in our restaurant.
The Inzu Lodge mission is to provide ecological accommodations and a unique tourism experience while respecting Rwanda’s traditions and while also benefitting the local community. Guests should be aware that 1 percent of all of the profits return to the local community (the proceeds from the gift shop, restaurant and accommodation). The gift shop has numerous Rwandan souvenirs that have been made by different cooperatives and non-profit organizations within Rwanda. There is also local produce for sale (for example, Rwandan coffee, tea and wine).
