Rwanda visas for Irish passport-holders

“Your otherwise excellent Rwanda guide let me down last week in one respect when I visited Rwanda for the purpose of gorilla trekking amongst other things.
I got a nasty surprise at Dublin airport when I was informed that I needed a visa as an Irish citizen. On p.35 of the Guide 2012 ed. which states that visas are not required for citizens of the UK or Ireland.
I was only able to travel with great difficulty trying to obtain a visa from Rwanda at the last minute. I lost 2 days from my trip and it cost me a large amount of extra money to change my flight.”
